According to meteorological records, over the last 60 years, the annual rainfall of Sinharaja Forest has ranged between 3614mm to 5006mm and temperatures from 19°C to 34°C. The reserve is only 21 km (13 mi) from east to west, and a maximum of 7 km (4.3 mi) from north to south, but it is a treasure trove of endemic species, including trees, insects, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals.

Reaching Sinharaja Forest Reserve: From North or west you can reach Sinharaja Forest Reserve via Ratnapura, Kiriella, Kalawana, Weddala. From the South you can enter Sinharaja Forest Reserve from Deniya. Form Hambantota, Udawalawe you can enter Sinharaja from Rakwana side.
